The Polish public broadcaster TVP is planning to launch a new streaming platform to replace existing services such as TVP Go and TVP VOD.

Speaking to Wirtualne Media, its president Jacek Kurski said that the platform will have very modern functionalities, revive linear TV and reach new viewers. Asked if it would be a free or paid-for, he added that it is also testing a subscription-based model.

Wirtualne Media notes that TVP VOD has been operational for several years and can be received on smart TVs and via a website.

Its offer includes on demand and selected content from linear channels.

Meanwhile, TVP Go was launched earlier this year and can be received on mobile (Android and iOS) devices and on terrestrial TV via HbbTV.

It streams all but two of TVP’s channels and has a catch-up facility.
