Illustration of Set Top Box (STB).Analog TV broadcasting will be discontinued and then a full migration to digital TV broadcasts will be carried out for a number of parts of Indonesia on November 2, 2022.For people who own Digital TV sets, namely television sets that are already equipped with a DVB-T2 (Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial second generation) decoder, migrating analogue to digital broadcasts will not be a problem.However, owners of analog TV sets must purchase additional devices in order to access Digital TV broadcasts.Owners of analog TV sets, both those with flat screens and tube TVs, must have an additional device in the form of a Set Top Box (STB).The STB device will be used to help analog television sets, including tube TVs, to capture digital TV broadcasts.The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has also provided free STB for Poor Households (RTM) with limited stock for those who have been registered with the Ministry of Social's Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS).There is also the price of Digital TV STB for Tube or Analog TV which is quite diverse.Currently, people can get STB in offline or online electronic stores with prices generally in the range of hundreds of thousands of rupiah.The price of Digital TV STB that can be installed for Tube TV sets or flat-screen Analog TVs, is the cheapest from tens of thousands to Rp. 100 thousand.However, there are also STBs with a price of IDR 200-400 thousand, depending on the brand and the features it has.
