Orange TV subscribers with the latest UHD set-top box will be able to use Amazon’s voice assistant to control their set-top box and take advantage of a host of additional services.

An Amazon Echo connected speaker – or any other Alexa-enabled device – can be used to control the set-top rather than the standard remote control.

The move to Alexa follows the competition of a trial of Djingo, the connected speaker developed by Orange in partnership with Deutsche Telekom.

Describing the end of the Djingo trial in October 2020, Orange program director François Lefèvre wrote: “This device is a true technology piece of art; yet no matter how brilliant a product can be, the last word should be left to the market and the market said it expects something different from Orange.”

Customers will need to link their Alexa account to the relevant Orange TV skill
