PHILADELPHIA — Mehmet Oz, the celebrity surgeon and Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, suggested Tuesday that voters should listen only to him — and not what his campaign has to say.
Oz was pressed by KDKA radio hosts in Pittsburgh about whether it was “appropriate” for Rachel Tripp, his campaign’s senior communications adviser, to say last week that the Democratic nominee, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, might not have suffered a stroke in May if he “had ever eaten a vegetable in his life.”

Police say two people were killed and five others were injured in a shooting in Norfolk, Virginia. Police said Sunday they responded around midnight to a report of gunfire after a fight broke out at at a party. When they arrived, they found four women and three men with gunshot wounds. Police say Zabre Miller, 25, and Angela McKnight, 19, later died at a hospital. Norfolk State University announced on Facebook that several of its students were victims of the shooting at an off-campus location. The university says initial indications are that its students were innocent bystanders of a shooting at an evening house party.

NEW YORK — The chief financial officer at Bed Bath & Beyond jumped to his death from his luxury apartment in Tribeca — days after the troubled retail chain announced it would shutter 150 stores, police said Sunday.
Police in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan were on the hunt for two suspects following reports of multiple stabbings three hours north of the provincial capital. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police say the attacks took place in several locations, including James Smith Cree Nation and the village of Weldon, northeast of Saskatoon, early Sunday. Early indications suggested victims may have been attacked at random, but police have not said how many were injured or if anyone died. The Saskatchewan Health Authority say multiple patients were being treated at several sites.
