In less than three weeks, analogue TV broadcasts throughout Indonesia will be stopped.For people who are currently looking for a set top box (STB) device, don't make the mistake of buying one that is not certified by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo).In welcoming the transition from analog TV broadcasting to digital TV, Kominfo has certified digital TV set top boxes.There is a list of 70 Kominfo certified set top boxes from various brands and types that are guaranteed to be official or not fake.The 70 STBs certified by the Ministry of Communication and Information come from various brands and types/models, such as production from Akari, CBM, Evercoss, Ichiko, Matrix, Nexmedia, Nextron, Polytron, Tanaka, to Venus.Considering the role of STB is very important so that analog television equipment owned by the public can still catch digital TV broadcasts when the Analog Switch Off (ASO) ends on November 2, 2022."Every digital television set and set top box DVB-T2 decoder that is traded, manufactured, assembled, imported and/or used in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia is required to observe technical requirements and be based on permits in accordance with the laws and regulations," the Kominfo wrote.The technical requirements for digital TV and set top boxes are regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Number 4 of 2019 dated June 28, 2019 concerning Technical Requirements for Telecommunication Equipment and/or Equipment for the Purpose of Broadcasting Television and Radio Broadcasts.List of Latest Kominfo Certified Set Top Box (STB) 2022The price of digital TV set top boxes varies, ranging from Rp. 150 thousand to Rp. 300 thousand depending on the superior features of each of these devices.Despite the different prices for set top boxes, Kominfo ensures that the certified devices are guaranteed authenticity and receive consumer protection, such as an official warranty.Kominfo confirmed that the termination of analog TV broadcasts would be on schedule, although there was a change in the method of turning it off.November 2, 2022, is the deadline for the public to completely switch to digital TV broadcasting.Kominfo will use the multiple ASO scheme in migrating this analog to digital TV.Multiple ASO is the application of cessation of analog TV broadcasts which is carried out continuously until the deadline for broadcasting migration on November 2, 2022.When digital TV broadcasts are implemented in an area, it will now refer to three main things.First in the area, there is an analog TV broadcast that will be stopped broadcasting.Second, it has operated digital TV broadcasts on analog TV broadcast coverage as a replacement.Third, the distribution of free digital TV set top boxes for poor households in the area has been carried out.The free set top box assistance was sourced from multiplexing (mux) providers as many as 5.7 million units distributed throughout Indonesia.Meanwhile, Kominfo also distributed assistance of one million units of free STB to the poor households.
